Students

George Jeffrey Children’s Centre hosts student placements from a wide range of faculties and institutions, both local and from outside of Thunder Bay. We work closely with Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), Rehabilitation Sciences to host learners in clinical placements from various university partners’ schools of rehabilitation sciences. Some of the placements we have provided, are as follows:

  • Business – Accounting
  • Communicative Disorders Assistant
  • Early Childhood Education (Little George’s Child Care Centre)
  • Kinesiology
  • NOSM, Community Learning Sessions
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Social Work
  • Speech-Language Pathology

If you are a student, interested in placement with George Jeffrey Children’s Centre, please contact your program’s placement coordinator to begin the application process. Placement coordinators are welcome to contact human resources at (807) 623-4381, ext. 6792 or via email hr@georgejeffrey.com

Placement requests are reviewed on a regular basis. Our review process considers number of requests, suitability with Centre programs and services, and capacity for placement supervision.

Volunteers 

From time to time, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre requires extra helping hands for our programs and activities.

Volunteers 18 years and older may be required to provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
